NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Nov. 19, 2024) Salesian missionaries with the Don Bosco Araimiri community in Kerema, Papua New Guinea, provided nutritious meals to students thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The meals were distributed to various groups in the Salesian community.

The event, held at Our Lady of Angels Convent in Aston, Pennsylvania, brought together choirs from across the region in a powerful celebration of faith, music, and history.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Nov. 17, 2024) Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring World Day of the Poor. The day, celebrated on Nov. 17, will be the eighth celebration of the day. This day was established by Pope Francis in 2016 at the end of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy in honor of the poor.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Nov. 13, 2024) Salesian sisters in Thorn Park, Lusaka, Zambia, had the funding to start construction on a new school for orphans and vulnerable youth thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The Garden Open Community School will educate youth ages 6-18.

Salesians feed 350 children at risk of starvation.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Nov. 12, 2024) Salesian missionaries in Niamey, Niger, have funding to support 250 families displaced from the communities of Makalondi and Torodi thanks to funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Salesians are feeding 350 children who are at risk of dying from starvation. They have also been able to establish an emergency fund for the immediate needs of displaced persons.

On the heels of the Nov. 5 election, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Eileen McKenzie’s article, “Encountering Christ on the move,” was published by Global Sisters Report.

“... our national leaders offer little support for families forcibly displaced from their homes in other countries who seek safety here. Campaign rhetoric that is racist, dehumanizing, describes the criminalization of migration and focuses on southern border security says little about our identity as a nation of immigrants.

Project enhances learning environment at Don Bosco school.

The Foundation for Senior Living announced its 50 over 50 list. Honorees are recognized for their service and dedication to helping Arizonans age with confidence. This award honors the people who have been in service for many years, offering their wisdom, strength, and expertise to better society and their communities.

High school students across the United States are invited to participate in a short video contest responding to the prompt: “What Would You Do?” to help prevent human trafficking. These videos will highlight potential human trafficking scenarios chosen by the students, and result in raising awareness, educating, and empowering students and others on how to identify and prevent human trafficking. The video can be created by a group, individual or class and must be under 3 minutes in length.

The conference will explore avenues of human trafficking prevention that will include the use of tools like shareholder advocacy, understanding intergenerational trauma, and skills for parents, as well as awareness around the topics of forced migration, labor trafficking, and trafficking on college campuses.

Don Bosco Anbu Illam Homes cares for 105 vulnerable youth.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Oct. 28, 2024) Salesian missionaries were able to provide comprehensive care for vulnerable youth who reside at Don Bosco Anbu Illam Homes in India thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

On Monday, Sept. 30, Nuns on the Bus and Friends started their two-and-a-half week “Vote Our Future” tour to encourage voter participation. The tour stopped in 11 states and 20 cities, including Chicago, Illinois, where Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Julia Walsh attended, and Nogales, Arizona, where Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Eileen McKenzie joined and spoke about the importance of supporting asylum seeking and the significance of voting.
