NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Nov. 19, 2024) Salesian missionaries with the Don Bosco Araimiri community in Kerema, Papua New Guinea, provided nutritious meals to students thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The meals were distributed to various groups in the Salesian community.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Nov. 17, 2024) Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring World Day of the Poor. The day, celebrated on Nov. 17, will be the eighth celebration of the day. This day was established by Pope Francis in 2016 at the end of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy in honor of the poor.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Nov. 13, 2024) Salesian sisters in Thorn Park, Lusaka, Zambia, had the funding to start construction on a new school for orphans and vulnerable youth thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The Garden Open Community School will educate youth ages 6-18.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Nov. 12, 2024) Salesian missionaries in Niamey, Niger, have funding to support 250 families displaced from the communities of Makalondi and Torodi thanks to funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Salesians are feeding 350 children who are at risk of dying from starvation. They have also been able to establish an emergency fund for the immediate needs of displaced persons.

What Would You DO: Pathways to Prevention

Deadline for video submissions: March 30, 2025

High school students across the United States are invited to participate in a short video contest responding to the prompt: “What Would You Do?” to help prevent human trafficking. These videos will highlight potential human trafficking scenarios chosen by the students, and result in raising awareness, educating, and empowering students and others on how to identify and prevent human trafficking. The video can be created by a group, individual or class and must be under 3 minutes in length.

On Monday, Sept. 30, Nuns on the Bus and Friends started their two-and-a-half week “Vote Our Future” tour to encourage voter participation. The tour stopped in 11 states and 20 cities, including Chicago, Illinois, where Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Julia Walsh attended, and Nogales, Arizona, where Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Eileen McKenzie joined and spoke about the importance of supporting asylum seeking and the significance of voting.
