WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY: Salesian Missions highlights environmental initiatives

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (June 5, 2024) Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and the international community in celebrating World Environment Day held annually on June 5. The day will focus on land restoration and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #GenerationRestoration.”

A Tree of Life: The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting

The “Movies That Matter: Informing Your Vote” series from the Franciscan Peace Center continues in June with a virtual screening of A Tree of Life: The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting.  Advance registration is required to view the film online between June 11-27.  A follow-up presentation by survivors and a viewer discussion session will be held on June 27.

The day, celebrated each year on June 1, honors parents throughout the world and provides an opportunity to appreciate all parents for their commitment to children.

14 solar panels benefit Salesian institutions.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 22, 2024) Top of Form Salesian institutions in India installed solar panels thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. Fourteen solar panels were added to the Don Bosco Media Academy, located in Manikandam, and Don Bosco Pre-Novitiate in the Dindigal District. Each solar panel is 540 watts.

The Center for Research on Global Catholicism (CRGC) at Saint Louis University is delighted to announce the 2024 St. Louis Catholic Archives Visiting Research Grant.

Frankfort Franciscans and UCYM Announce Partnership

The Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart (FSSH) and United Catholic Youth Ministries (UCYM) announced their partnership on March 22, 2024, and are exploring ways of collaborating that will benefit local communities. FSSH is a congregation of women religious based in Frankfort, Illinois, and UCYM is a Catholic ministry based in Chicago that serves youth, young adults, and families within the context of their communities through faith formation, service work, worship opportunities, discipleship, and accompaniment.
